Verno launches a unique online service for custom frames

Verno is, by tradition, an artisan frame maker where love and passion for the perfect end result are deeply rooted in their DNA. With a showroom, committed advisors and a sales department, run mainly by phone, Verno has been making custom frames for decades, mainly for artists and gallery owners. To create a new business model, Verno asked Burst to develop their digital proposition for the European consumer market.

After extensive user research and data analysis in collaboration with Verno, Burst came up with the digital concept for a new international webshop: Framed with Love. This concept focuses on a specific look and feel whereby the frames are displayed in a museum-worthy way. We discovered that one of the biggest challenges for the consumer was to visualise the end-result.

Accordingly, we created a Magento webshop where the visitor can compose his or her ideal frame in an easy step-by-step process. The entire process has been created in such a way that allows us to help the consumer by showing the result and advising them on all possible options. Furthermore, the price changes in real time with every choice, to show the impact of different options.

Burst succeeded in digitally translating our traditional product into a modern brand and very user-friendly webshop. The online service is unique in Europe and has made it possible for us to offer our love of creating the very best custom frames to everyone.”

    In addition to the advanced compilation and ordering service (with a choice of more than 100 different frames), there is also the option to immediately upload your own photo and compose the frame around it before having it delivered promptly to your home.


    In 2019, launched its online custom framing service, a first in Europe. Thanks to its innovative digital solution, has been transformed into a modern framing workshop where the old craft of custom frames has been combined with the latest techniques and which also features an online Magento shop.


The results are impressive. In the first six months after the launch, sales increased by an average of 62% month-on-month and the conversion rate improved by 51%. Due to the advanced visual sales process, the number of returns has decreased by 35%, thus significantly reducing costs. A survey of new customers also shows that 68% of customers had never had anything framed before. Not only was the leap into this online market successful, but the existing sales and operational processes also became more efficient and straightforward.
